  Taught at Blindman Valley school district before she was married. (This school was founded in 1907 and operated until 1949 when the students began being bused into Rimbey -- source www.rootsweb.com/~abponoka/sch-blindmanvalley.h tm] "When Mavis and I were about 9 and 10, someone came to visit us in his own little plane at Hinton (when we lived at Brule.) He took Dad up for a ride, but Mom wouldn't go, even though I tried to encourage her to go. 'Why don't y ou go, Mom, it would be great!' (I wasn't asked if I wanted to go; I would have!) Years later, Joan, Cecil's wife, told me the rest of the story. When Mom told her about the incident, she said, 'I have no business going up in an airplane. I have little children to take care of.' It sure gave me a lot of insight into Mom, and always helped me to make wiser choices about myself when I had little children."
